Springboard Design + Sugar ‘N Spires

Team Name: Springboard Design + Sugar ‘N Spires
Cake Name: Rietveld ReWind: From Concept to Reality
Cake Flavor(s): Sweet Almond Cake with Buttercream Filling.

While the Heinz Architectural Center (HAC) collection focuses on drawings, prints, and models, its mission is truly broader to celebrate architecture generally, especially the architectural design process. Our cake is inspired by HAC’s mission both in terms of its use of drawings, prints and models in the representation of an iconic modernist building, Gerrit Rietveld’s Schroder House (Utrecht, the Netherlands, 1924), but also in its celebration of the architectural design process itself. Our concept is to represent the design process – from concept to reality – in a delicious and beautiful cake.
